About Paul 

Paul Hankins is a South Carolina native, entrepreneur, and seasoned mortgage professional with more than 23 years of experience in residential lending, real estate investment, property management, and renovation projects in South Carolina. A graduate of the University of South Carolina, Paul founded BrickWood Mortgage in 2007 after beginning his career with a large national lender. Since then, he has built BrickWood Mortgage into a respected independent mortgage company known for exceptional customer service, innovative lending solutions, and a client-first approach.

Mortgage Experience 

With more than two decades of experience originating mortgage loans, including Conventional, FHA, VA, USDA, Jumbo, Non-QM, and investor financing programs, Paul is widely regarded by clients and industry peers as a trusted mortgage expert. His passion for helping families and real estate investors achieve their goals continues to drive the company’s mission today, serving Myrtle Beach, Surfside Beach, Murrells Inlet, Pawleys Island, Charleston, and beyond. Paul’s experience extends to helping first-time homebuyers and working with self-employed borrowers, while offering personalized mortgage guidance and investor financing expertise. 

Real Estate and Investment Background 

Beyond mortgage lending, Paul has used his knowledge of local real estate markets for commercial property ownership, management, and redevelopment. Through his real estate and investment ventures, he has successfully managed and renovated both residential and commercial properties throughout coastal South Carolina, combining practical construction knowledge with long-term investment strategy. His experience ranges from property acquisition and rehabilitation to tenant management and commercial operations.

Community Involvement 

Paul also serves the State of South Carolina through his appointment by the Governor to the South Carolina Department of Consumer Affairs Council of Advisors, where he helps advise on consumer credit and financial protection matters affecting South Carolina residents.

Personal Life

Outside of business, Paul enjoys farming, land improvement projects, and spending time with family while embracing the coastal South Carolina lifestyle. An avid sports fan, he is also a proud shareholder of the Green Bay Packers and an investor in the Atlanta Braves organization.

Paul lives in Garden City Beach with his wife Kinsey, their son Hutch, and their Miniature Dachshund, Braxton.
